Jed Burdick Weaves a Legend in the Swamp, Denies Warmth to Crew
Jeff Melanson and David Kruta joined DP Brandon Lippard in a spec trailer shoot for “The Legend of Oak Swamp”, writer/director Jed Burdick’s sophomore feature film effort. The story is about three children who discover a blood thirsty beast engineered by WWII military experiments gone wrong, and the children must seek safety without leading the beast to those searching for them.

A long weekend of shooting took us all over Massachusetts, from a swamp to a horse farm near Worcestor and a overnight shoot at a shipyard in New Bedford. Much of the shoot was in cold, wet conditions outdoors, but the crew kept up a high morale and pulled off some fantastic shots. We shot on the RED One with Zeiss SuperSpeed lenses, and used Steadicam for horse-riding shots to be used for visual effects later. Fortunately, no horses were harmed in the making of the trailer.
